Frequently Asked Questions

No, the procedure is entirely painless. Tooth extraction, whether regular or wisdom tooth extraction, is done under local anesthesia to provide you with a comfortable experience

The recovery time varies depending on the type of tooth involved, the tooth's complexity, and the individual's general health. However, the recovery time is generally 2-3 days for regular extraction and a week for wisdom tooth extraction.

You must shift to a soft diet for the initial few days till the initial healing is completed. Avoid hot and spicy food items as they may irritate the wound and delay the healing.

It is suggested to avoid brushing and rinsing your mouth for the first 24 hours. The initial clot formation is necessary for the healing. You can start with careful brushing from the next day onwards.

Testimonials

Changing lives one smile at a time

5.0/5.0

Super impressed by Dr Gireesh’s expertise. He provided me with the correct diagnosis and consultation. This was my first trip to any dentist so far in 30 years of my life. I had heard all wrong things about other dental clinics that how sometimes they try to misdiagnose to convert you into a repeat customer. But was super happy when Dr Gireesh told me the exact procedure I needed, not exactly the expensive one which was told to me earlier. Additionally, he took time to answer all my concerns and questions. Highly recommend Molar Support. 👍🏻

Tooth Extraction

What is a tooth extraction? – Tooth Extraction in Jaipur

Tooth extraction is a dental procedure in which your tooth is completely removed from its socket. In simple terms, it is also called pulling out of your tooth. It is often kept as a last resort for the teeth that cannot be saved by any other means. Our team at Molar Support Dental Clinic, headed by Dr. Gireesh Likhyani, ensures that all the extractions are done by following strict sterilization protocols.

When do we need extraction? – Tooth Extraction in Jaipur

The primary aim of our team at Molar Support Dental Clinic is to save the natural tooth. However, there are a few cases in which the tooth is damaged beyond repair, like extensive tooth decay, advanced gum disease, and dental trauma. Another variant of tooth extraction is wisdom tooth extraction, where the impacted third molar is removed. The wisdom tooth extraction is a minor surgical extraction performed under local anesthesia by our chief dentist, Dr. Gireesh Likhyani.

Steps of Tooth Extraction in Jaipur

  • The first step is to numb the affected tooth and surrounding tissues. It is done using local anesthesia.
  • Once the tooth and the surrounding tissues are anesthetized, your tooth is loosened with the help of special instruments.
  • We might need to incise the soft tissue overlying the tooth in wisdom tooth extraction before loosening it.
  • Once the tooth is loosened, it is lifted from the socket using dental forceps.
  • If required, Dr. Gireesh Likhyani will put a few stitches to close the wound and promote healing.

Advantages of Tooth Extraction in Jaipur

In cases where the tooth is grossly decayed or has a large amount of pus formation, removing the tooth reduces the harmful bacteria. This infection can spread to the surrounding tissues if left untreated, leading to further complications.

In cases of wisdom tooth extraction, removing the tooth helps relieve the symptoms of pain and discomfort. In some instances, there is reduced mouth opening due to an impacted tooth; there is immediate relief after the tooth removal.

Types of  Tooth Extraction in Jaipur

Regular Tooth Extraction

It is a type of extraction where the tooth is completely visible inside the mouth. It is a simple procedure performed under local anesthesia. They are mostly done in severely decayed teeth and advanced gum disease where the tooth has become mobile. The recovery time of regular tooth extraction is minimal, and people usually recover within a couple of days. However, the recovery time differs with the severity of the case.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

It is a more complex procedure for the teeth that are not fully visible in the mouth. The third molars can be partially erupted or fully impacted inside the jawbones. The wisdom tooth surgery involves the incision of both soft tissues and the bone surrounding the tooth.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction Vs. Regular Tooth Extraction

Regular tooth extraction involves the extraction of fully erupted teeth. Wisdom tooth extraction involves the extraction of impacted teeth. The most common teeth to be impacted are the third molars.

Regular tooth extractions address issues like decayed teeth, RCT failures, tooth fractures, and conditions where it is difficult to save the tooth. Wisdom tooth extractions are mainly done to remove the impacted third molars.

Regular tooth extractions are simple, straightforward procedures, whereas wisdom tooth surgery is more complex. The recovery time of regular extraction is a couple of days, and wisdom tooth surgery is approximately a week.

Aftercare Regime – Tooth Extraction in Jaipur

Promotes Healing

Our team at Molar Support Dental Clinic will recommend specific aftercare instructions to help promote proper healing of the extraction site.

Minimizes chances of infection

A proper aftercare regime significantly reduces the risk of infection at the extraction site. Keeping the area clean, following oral hygiene practices, and taking prescribed medicines help minimize the chances of post-extraction infection.

Controls Bleeding

Biting down on the gauze piece and applying gentle pressure helps control bleeding. It is crucial for successful clot formation, which in turn promotes healing.

Reduces Swelling

Using cold compression intermittently helps minimize swelling and discomfort associated with tooth extraction.

How to take good care after Tooth Extraction in Jaipur

  • It’s normal to experience bleeding after tooth extraction. A gauze piece is placed over the extraction site to control bleeding
  • Bite on the gauze piece firmly for about 30 minutes. If bleeding persists, you can replace the gauze with a new one and continue applying gentle pressure.
  • Avoid spitting or rinsing forcefully for the first 24 hours, as this can dislodge the blood clot and prolong the bleeding.
  • Take all the medicines as prescribed by Dr. Gireesh Likhyani for adequate pain control.
  • Use cold compressions on the face intermittently from outside to reduce the chances of swelling.
  • Instead of one pillow, use extra pillows to elevate the head at night.
  • Shift to a soft diet for a few days till the initial healing of the extraction site is complete.
  • Avoid hot and spicy food items as they delay healing.
  • Maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial for healing.
  • After the first 24 hours, gently rinse your mouth with lukewarm saltwater.
  • Smoking and consuming alcohol can delay healing.
